Beacon Fellowship is the first and only Fellowship within the United Kingdom whose scheme is geared toward supporting and encouraging an improved culture of philanthropy and charitable giving. Founded in 2002 by Emily Stonor and David Charters, Beacon was the outgrowth Stonor's involvement in a project which sought to investigate the causes of the observed decline in charitable giving and participation within the UK, as well as the low profile associated with such activities.
The Beacon Fellowship aims to inspire people to give money time and skills through supporting and encouraging individual contributions to charitable and social causes, and through celebrating and showcasing best practice in philanthropy. Beacon awards annual prizes to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to charitable causes or to organisations that benefit the public. An overall winner will be selected every year, who will be given a cash award of £30,000, invested in an innovative way by the winner in a charity of their choice.
Membership is limited to winners of the Beacon Prize; recipients are drawn from a pool of candidates nominated either by charitable organisations or the public at large.

Stephen Cohen - Interim Chair of Beacon's Trustees from December 2004 until May 2005. Stephen has worked in the asset management business for over 25 years in multiple roles, in America, Asia and in Europe.

Peter Higgins- Currently Managing Director of Rare Corporate Design and Publishing part of Chime Communications Plc.

Debra Marmor- An independent consultant and executive mentor. Mrs Marmor is also a Fellow of the RSA.

Sue Ryan- Journalist who has worked across the media over the last 30 years, most recently as Managing Editor of the Daily Telegraph.

Emily Stonor- Co-founder of Beacon. She was the Chief Executive of Beacon for four years until June 2006, when she became a trustee. Mrs Stoner has previously worked as a consultant to a number of charitable initiatives, was Head of Marketing and Communications for the Science Museum and for eight years at Saatchi & Saatchi as an Account Director.

Lisa Tedeschini - Qualified solicitor and solicitor-advocate who until recently worked as a commercial litigator with a global law firm. Mrs Tedschini also founded the firm's Human Rights Group, which provided human rights law advice and training to clients and colleagues in addition she's been a volunteer with a number of charitable organisations.Further Information
